House Progress: Before and Afters

DSC_0008

It’s been so fun watching the house be transformed. It’s a slow and methodical process, but I kind of like the pace because it means we aren’t rushing and making mistakes. I honestly love every paint color, fabric, and decorative placement we’ve chosen so far. I give full credit to the talented ladies of Henry & Co. As I said before they have an incredible vision and are such a pleasure to work with. We painted the entryway trim a beautiful light grey. The treatment for the walls hasn’t been installed yet so I can’t do the full reveal, but I can give you a small taste of how pretty the paint color is on this small built-in cabinet. The “before” image is how I styled the shelves. The “after” is how my designers styled it. Clearly they get paid for what they do for a reason. Isn’t the “after” so much more balanced and appealing to the eye? The tray holds a collection of small iron animals (given to me by my grandmother) and other small items I cherish. I love that they are featured in the front hall for all to see. The other jars and plated were all either ours or in the house when we bought it. All repurposed and give a new home.

And then there are these chairs that we reupholstered for the family room. They were tucked away in a cluttered room in the basement. It’s hard to believe but we all agreed they had great bones.

With the right fabric and trim (as well as all new batting and fill) they have been given a brand new life. Aren’t the studs along the bottom edge beautiful? They are also some of the more comfortable chairs I have ever sat in.

Stay tuned because in the next “before and after” I’ll be showing even more of the family room. Pillows for the sofa are in the works. Yippee!
