There is nothing I like more than hearing from old friends who are busy following their dreams and doing cool and interesting things with their lives. I recently was reconnected with a friend from high school who has passionately been designing jewelry in recent years. It was such a pleasure hearing about how she has built her brand, Threads of Friendship (her second line I might add), and how she regularly uses her brand to give back to those in need.
The bracelets in her collection are fun, interesting, unique – and perfectly paired with other bracelets to create some serious arm swag. I’m honored that she named the bracelet featured above (available in 3 colors) after me and thrilled that a portion of each sale is being donated to Little Wings Foundation. Buy one today to share the love with Little Wings! Thanks Andrea and keep up the good work!
Q&A with Andrea Barna, Founder of Threads of Friendship
What is Threads of Friendship?
Threads of Friendship is a line of fun and hip bracelets worn by A list celebs and sold worldwide, that gives back by donating part of its proceeds to charity.
When and how did you launch your brand?
I launched TOF in late 2012 but really started picking up momentum with the brand early this year after I joined a showroom in New York City. It’s kind of a family affair – I work a lot with my family when making the business decisions and friends also have input with design.
Where are your bracelets made?
My bracelets are all made overseas in China and imported. They are made of the finest materials mostly silk, leather and stainless steel.
What is the inspiration behind your beautiful designs?
My style is very boho-chic. It’s laid back with an edge and is something I’ve always incorporated into my design. I use a lot of black to keep the line chic and always a pop of color to accent each individual style. All accents are gold toned for now and that comes from childhood. I’ve always been a gold wearing girl. The idea is a stackable look. You can wear so many at a time and represent your own style.
How has TOF teamed up with charities to give back?
I work with The Walkabout Foundation (www.Walkabout.org) and have designed styles for each of the girls that work there along with a wrap bracelet for Carolina the Co-founder. Part of proceeds from these certain styles are donated to the foundation. I also represent them at events such as this upcoming Wango Tango concert in Los Angeles by Kissfm. At the event artists like Maroon 5 and Shakira will be performing. When I work with charities I try to boost sales and get the non-profits as much PR and exposure as possible.
Where can people buy your jewelry?
You can buy Threads Of Friendship on my website at www.Threadsoffriendship.net and at Blue and Cream on the Bowery and East Hampton.
What’s next for TOF?
So much is in the works right now. We have international TV segments coming up, events in Los Angeles, and of course the launch of the Lindley Bracelet. This is a new style I created. It will sell retail for $25.00 and I will donate 25% to The Little Wings Foundation.
