Great Read: Fates and Furies

Fates and Furies on The Sent

For any and all who are heading into spring break, Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff is an excellent read. There are portions of the story that had me racing to bed at night to tear through another few chapters, and then other sections that peacefully trickled by. The pace of the book mirrors the lives and marriage of Lotto and Matthilde – at once so typical and yet also totally rare. This book is a very honest look at what marriage can entail – the ups and downs – and the reader cannot come away from reading it without recognizing that relationships are equally shaped by the things we do and do not say to each other. This novel makes a strong case for how a lack of total honesty can be the more selfless decision one makes when in a deep and complicated relationship. It’s a very sexy read so be prepared to blush while you read. All in all this novel is incredibly well written and leaves you wanting more.
