Healing Foods: Ginger Tea

GingerTea

Last year I fell hard for the Ginger Tea made at both Méli-Mélo and Aux Delices here in Greenwich. The day after New Year’s my baby boy and I got hit with a nasty head cold. Food tasted bland but I found myself craving that tea. I had a sense it would be the magic elixir to make me feel better. The cold weather this week has kept us from venturing out much, but as they say “Necessity is the mother of invention.” While stuck at home I decided I would try to recreate this Ginger Tea. In a mug of boiling water I combined 1 tablespoon of grated fresh ginger (I love the zester above), 1 tablespoon of honey, and the juice of half of a lemon. It was delicious and just what I needed to decongest my stuffy nose and warm up my chilled body. Hello winter. I’m ready for you now. Bring it on!

  1. This is just what I need! Will make some this afternoon, with the zester. Thank you Lindley.

  2. I think everyone needs a bit of this tea, as it seems that alot of people are getting or trying to get rid of this darn cold and cough.
