Interior Design: Hamptons Heaven

Those who know me well know that I am completely enamored with old homes. There’s something about the sentimental charm of a place that has been well lived in that really appeals to me. This Brideghampton house, featured in the June issue of Elle Decor, was originally built as a farmhouse in the 1840s. In the years to follow a small schoolhouse was moved onto the property and attached to the main house as another wing. The house was in quite a state of disrepair, but the most recent buyers saw its potential. They called in Steven Gambrel, an interior designer whose name is synonymous with fabulous Hamptons design, and the end result is stunning. It’s just the kind of place I’d like to spend the long Memorial Day weekend…
